The competition run by Start-rite and Living Streets celebrates the WoW partnership, which supports schools and local authorities to remove barriers to walking. WoW has been running since 2005 and today, helps over 300,000 children get walking across the UK.
Less than half of children now walk to school compared to 83% a generation ago. Through WoW children’s walks to school are recorded and the scheme rewards children who walk to school at least once a week with a collectable badge at the end of each month.
Every year, as part of National Walking Month, Living Streets’ Walk to School Week (12-16 May) encourages over half a million school children and their teachers and parents to get active. There are lots of exciting ways to get involved with Walk to School Week. Is your school running Strider’s Family Walking Challenge? Have you thought of fundraising this Walk to School Week so you can run WoW all year round?
